Join us for a 2hr session getting up close to a number of different birds of prey at BB Falconry, Risley, DE72 3TT. Hour one will include flying owls and the second hour will be a short hawk walk.

The owl experience is a hands on session where we will meet owls from many parts of the world and enjoy flying them to the gloved hand, witnessing the silent flight and the majestic flying styles. This will then be followed by the Hawk Walk which is a chance to get up close and personal with a team of Harris Hawks. Enjoy a leisurely walk around the picturesque Derbyshire countryside whilst flying this magnificent species to your gloved hand. There is lots handling opportunities and a great chance to learn all about these birds.

The hawk walk is a gentle walk of approximately 1 mile round trip and the ground that we are on is very flat. There are no styes to navigate but it is through fields not on paths, so in winter these may become long and damp with grass or muddy in gateways. If any members need a stick thats fine but it’s not suitable for wheeled walkers or wheelchairs. If you thought the whole walk is too long we can go part way and turn back and make it shorter.

Please bear in mind that this experience is weather dependent and the flying takes place outdoors on a flying field, so warm and waterproof clothing is required. If the weather is unsuitable for the birds there is a small chance that this event will be rescheduled at short notice.
