Dates and Events

It is important that members and visitors know when the Group meets. Choose an option:

Do nothing

Use a table or a list

Use Events

  • Check the information on the top left-hand side of your webpage.
  • If your Group meets on the same day, (e.g, '3rd Friday' or 'every Monday') at the same place, at the same time every week or month then all the information will be there.
  • You don't need to do anything else.
  • Use a 12 column table to show the months
    or
Use a 3 column table to show the spring, summer and autumn 'terms.'

April 1 & 15 & 19Aug XXXDec. 2 & 16

This is important if you meet every fortnight.

  • Use a list if you want to show dates and places
  • Jan. 8th - The Rose & Crown
  • Feb 12th - The Miners' Arms
  • March 11th - The Tavern
  • April - no meeting
  • May 13th - The Red Lion
  • etc.
  • When you need to change anything you just go to 'Edit page' and type as you would on an ordinary computer page.

Events is useful because you have more options if each meeting involves:

  • A different subject matter,
  • A visit to somewhere new,
  • A different starting point
  • The need to give extra information beforehand about times, routes, places, menus or costs.
  • The need to link to another website for information about a menu,
  • An image,
  • The need to provide a map.
  • The need to provide an email form*
  • Go to the Dashboard,
  • Choose Events -> New Event,
  • Complete the information,
  • Publish (twice)
  • Your Event is time-limited. It will disappear when the date has passed
  • * Emails are a little complicated and involve 'coding'. I may need to explain this to you.

If you need it there is more help to do the above - click on the Displaying Dates button in the Editing notes for Group Leaders section of the Advice for Leaders page.

Alternative suggestions

If you find the above too difficult there are 2 options:

  • Email me a list of your dates for the next 12 months and I will put them on your webpage.
  • Go to the Contacts page of this website and Contact the Committee Member who looks after the What's On Calendar and s/he will add the dates to it. In which case you should add a sentence to your webpage to explain that this is where the meeting dates can be found.
