Carry on Bowling

Our Crown Green Bowling sessions at Ashbourne Bowling Club end at the end of September and will not start again until April.  Why not continue this activity by coming inside and enjoying Indoor Bowls?

Indoor Bowls is a game that can be played by almost anyone.  It is played on a special carpet that is divided into playing areas called ‘Links’.

Just as in Crown Green Bowling the bowls do not run in a straight line.  The reason is different, though.  It is not determined by the shape of the green but rather the bowls are shaped with a ‘bias’ to make sure that they follow a curved path.

The object is basically the same.  Players take turns in rolling the bowls from a mat at one end of the link attempting to land them as close as possible to the ‘jack’ at the other end.

The game can be played in teams of two, three or four - or as singles.
No special equipment is required. Trainers - or similar - are suitable footwear. The bowls will be provided by The Venue.

It is a popular game.  It is fun, sociable but tactically challenging.  Cups of tea and chats can be enjoyed afterwards.  You don’t have to concern yourself with wind or rain.  Games don’t get cancelled because of weather conditions.  It is a low-impact sport and so suitable for a wide range of fitness levels.

Why not give it a try?
